Village forecasting of armyworm outbreak saves crops

The African armyworm devastates crops and grasslands in eastern and southern Africa. Severe outbreaks can catch farmers unprepared. Forecasts from national forecasting services often do not reach them in time, if at all. This brief explains how policy makers can support and facilitate training on community-based armyworm forecasting, on a large enough scale to get the approach adopted widely.
