Variability in P1 gene redefines phylogenetic relationships among Cassava brown streak viruses (Ipomovirus; Potyviradae)

This poster was presented at the World Congress on Root and Tuber Crops in Nanning China in October 2015 by Willard Mbewe. The study presented in this poster analysed cassava samples from East and Central-Southern African, identifying three major clades associated with Cassava brown streak virus (CBSV). This included a novel distinct clade named CBSVTanzania, which has been identified in this study as a major sub-group of CBSV. The research conducted into these sub-groups of CBSV may help track virus evolution in Tanzania and Malawi.
