Progress on cassava mosaic disease and cassava brown streak disease diagnostics in East and Central Africa

This academic poster outlines the work conducted by the Mikocheni Agricultural Research Institute (MARI) to enhance the capacity of national cassava research programmes to conduct disease diagnostics. Following training and development of standardised diagnostic protocols, country surveys were conducted in cassava farmers’ fields in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia to establish the status of cassava mosaic disease and cassava brown streak disease. This poster describes the materials and methods used, as well as the results of the study.

The poster was produced by Mathias Ulaya, Elijah Ateka, Marie Claire Kanyange, Titus Alicia, Mathew Penjani Theu, Nurbibi Cossa, Patrick Chikoti, Peter Sseruwagi, Fred Tairo and Joseph Ndunguru.
