This project was aimed at developing and promoting strategies to improve food security and livelihoods in semi-arid areas of Ghana and Uganda. Specific areas addressed included on-farm storage of legumes to tackle deteriorating food stocks and farmers’ inability to obtain good prices for their produce. Working predominantly through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in Ghana and with a coalition of state researchers and extension staff, farmers’ associations and NGOs in Uganda, the project engaged a mix of farmers in validating new and improved methods for post-harvest pest control.
