Biocontrol of legume pod borer (Maruca vitrata)

Biocontrol of legume pod borer (Maruca vitrata)

A short film produced by the University of Illinois, USA, informing individuals and groups about the biological control of pest populations. The animation is about controlling the legume pod borer through the release of parasitic wasps which kill the pod borer eggs and thus reduce the larval population of the legume pod borer, Maruca vitrata. This method benefits the cultivation of cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata) in West Africa where it is grown on more than 12.8 million hectares of land.
